Interesting set of posts from Half Changed World ... she decided to try and buy groceries this month with the $434 budget that she would receive if she were on food stamps for groceries. Worth reading. It's also worth reading the follow-up post linked to in her trackbacks. I wish I had time to comment further or write something coherent and interesting about this, but this is about all I can give you today!

Thanks for the link!
I'd be interested in you and your readers' perspective on whether it's possible to eat locally grown and/or organic food on a budget like this. My first reaction is that it's not -- at least not in my area (just outside of DC) during the winter.

Hi, I've been a faithful reader of yours for sometime now. I'm Indian (from India, not as in American), live in London (across the pond and much land!) yet love your blog about SF. San Francisco is a place I've been to for a week in the late 90's but I loved it and I really enjoy reading all your posts about it and all the special places in and around it. You do bring it to life! When I started my own blog earlier this month I put you on as one of my links ( I hope you don't mind) and just wanted to say that you blog is inspirational.
Keep blogging!
